I am using Training manager and movescount in parallel.  I think I have all the personal attributes set the same in both.

But, for every activity I upload, the TE in movescount is exactly 1 less than training manager or my T6d shows!

What could I have missed?

thanks,
Iain.

Do you mean 1 or 0.1 difference in the TE?

I've also noticed a discrepency between StraM, STraM Lite, T4c/MemoryBelt and Movescount.

Everything is very, very close except Movescount which is usually reading a bit higher.  (eg. STraM 2.6 - T4C 2.7 - Movescount 2.9 TE).  All my parameters are spot on and have been triple checked.

I have noticed that STraM doesn't report my age correctly as it isn't date specific, only year specific.  You can manually edit your age for each log and re-analyse, but I already have a more accurate MaxHR so I'm not sure it makes much difference, if any.

I'd be interested to know if anybody else is experiencing any differences between the TE values reported by STraM and Movescount specfically.

These should both be very close given processing power is not an issue and the algorithm ought to be virtually identical.  I'm assuming Movescount runs with a newer updated algorithm than StraM here.

Yes 1.0 difference.  Training manager 3.4, movescoutn 2.4.  Training manager 2.3, movescount 1.3.

Hence I think I must have missed some parameter - just can't work out which one.  Age, height, weight, activity class, min/max HB all identical.

thanks for the suggestions.

Iain.

There aren't any more parameters on Movescount except male/female.  I can't for one second imagine the male/female setting affects the ultimate TE reading by 1 though.

I have now downloaded the First Beat trial version to see what it thinks!

It is pretty much in line with training manager, about 0.1 below on TE.

I've rechecked all the parameters in movescount and they match training manager.  I have no idea what is going on.

Looks like I'll stick with training manager for the time being.

I've also found some of my uploaded logs produce a similar discrepency on Movescount, but with a low reading rather than a high one.

In other words Movescount isn't consistently producing a higher TE value for me.  It is random and can produce significantly lower or higher TE values than those reported by STraM.  I can't identify any particular pattern, but the results are significantly different.

Like you I'm continuing to use STraM as the primary tool for now.

Hi Guys

I would be interested in hearing about any differences between STRaM and Movescount.  Iain send me the log in question to eddie@fletchersportscience.co.uk

I am also finding a difference. Movescount is producing a training effect score approx 0.5 lower than Training Manager and First Beat Athlete. Most recent session StrM and FBA TE 4.5 Movescount TE 4.0. I am converting my historic data into movescount so I should be to check if this difference is consistent across all 18 months data.

Hi Eddie - I've mailed you with a log from STraM and the corresponding Movescount upload screenshots, which should report the same TE value but don't.
