No one ever likes to look bad in the eyes of the public, no matter how good your product, just one bad press situation and no one will ever buy your product again. Kind of hurts the cash flow. But at least in scuba, 95%+ of scuba fatalities are a result of human error not equipment. As far as reliability, my vytec has well over 200 dives on it and 2 battery changes without any failures. So I guess I can't complain.
A DeeperBlue.net forum member posted interesting information regarding DCS and freediving, and about available freediving DCS simulation models. (DeeperBlue is mainly freediving forum, with many prominent freedivers and scientists participating there). I thought it may interest subscribers of this thread, and possibly Suunto representatives too.
The DB member, Diveoceanos (physiologist / DCS expert) claims that DCS freediving simulation algorithms are already used in Oceanic / Aeris
diving computers. So I hope Suunto won't stay behind too long.
